Hiatus
Since Labor Day weekend, I've been plagued by personal problems I cannot explain here for the sake of privacy. I persevered posting on this blog for as long as I could, but when it became apparent that what started out as a terrible weekend would not just grow into a terrible week but likely a terrible two-week period - or "fortnight," "as the Brits call it - I decided it was too much. I'm taking a break from this blog, and I am probably going to stay off until this Thursday (September 15), at least.
I need to clear my head and possible a few other things in my life. I feel exhausted even as I type this. Don't worry, I'll be back in time for a new Music Video Of the Week, as well as extended commentary on the transition from Queen Elizabeth II to King Charles III. (Not to mention Mar-a-Lago, so I won't!)
Take care for now . . .

Hiatus: This Time I Mean It!
This time I'm definitely taking a break from what I informally call the Maginnis Post. :-) I thought I'd only be posting sporadically after the hurricane, and I ended up posting once a day as always. But when you start to notice typos in earlier posts that the spell-checker didn't catch (and I hope you didn't!) and you realize you've been repeating yourself on stories out of Washington that refuse to resolve themselves, perhaps it's time to take a few days off. And I am accumulating more assignments with the hyperlocal news sites I write for, so I have to be mindful of those. This has nothing to do with the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee headed this way (and Hurricane Katia may not hit the U.S .after all, though it's still too early to tell).
So I'll be taking the next couple of days off, but don't worry, I'll comment on President Obama's jobs speech if it turns out he actually has something to say. I'll probably return to a semi-regular posting schedule, or even resume a daily posting schedule, after Friday.
Unless Katia ends up hitting my area.
I hope you all had a happy Labor Day.

Hiatus Announcement
I am announcing, for the first time since a fan broke on my old personal computer in April and got a new PC a couple of weeks later, that I am putting my blog on hiatus due to Hurricane Irene and the possibility of a power failure that could last for a couple of days, but also due to the fact that I need a break for a brief time. I've been burned out somewhat, and I was already writing smaller entries this week. I had planned to unwind this week, but, ironically, Irene has me all wound up - more so than before this time last week.
Assuming my power stays on - there's a fifty-fifty chance of that - I'll make a brief report on Wednesday, August 31, reporting what happened to my area as the result of Irene. (Even if my house is unscathed, many other in my area very well may be.) But apart from updating my Music Video Of the Week feature every Friday (assuming I have power by next Friday), I'll probably stay off until some time after Labor Day, even if I don't lose electricity.
And if the power at my house does go off and stay off for a long time, I might not be posting at all in September unless my local library is online.
Thanks for following my blog, and I hope I won't be gone for long. I may not be back for awhile, but, to quote my favorite female athlete Janet Evans, who turns forty tomorrow (I just wanted to get that in! :-D), I'll still be around.

Another Hiatus
I've been unable to post on the weekends recently, and the issue causing this situation still hasn't been resolved (I thought it would be by now), so I'll be back on Monday. Cheers.
