Patrick Swayze's Health

Patrick Swayze, who's been dealing with cancer for nearly a year, has been hospitalized during his treatment. He's been bitter about his illness, but lest you write his comments off as an act of self-pity, ask yourself this: Wouldn't you feel the same way, if you were in the same position? Many do; they just don't get to tell Barbara Walters.
Swayze is actually an accomplished dancer, more so than an actor, so it makes sense that Dirty Dancing is regarded as his greatest movie ever. I remember when I was in college when it first came out (I'm dating myself here), and a girl I knew in college who'd seen it spoke of it in analytical terms, as if it were a Godard film. Swayze has publicly stated that he never took that movie very seriously, so why should anyone else?
It's worth noting that Swayze, despite being an dancer who acts rather than an actor who dances, has had good moments as an actor. His most poignant role was his first big break, and an ironic one at that: On a late-period episode of "M*A*S*H," he played a solider who wants to donate blood to help his wounded friend . . . but can't because it turns out he has leukemia. :-(

Ah, the 80s! I remember "Dirty Dancing," and I did like the story and all the dancing too. I remember I also liked the songs.

Would you believe I still haven't seen that movie? I was in college then, and I was inot foreign movies - Truffaut and Renoir, mostly.
