Niger

I don't get any of this . . .
No one knew that American soldiers were in the African nation of Niger on an an anti-terrorist mission against Islamic extremists until it took a fatal ambush on four of them to draw attention to their mission, and it wasn't even a secret mission.  And no one heard of it until two weeks after happened?
Shouldn't Trump have been more timely in announcing these deaths once they happened?  What was he doing all that time, trying to decide whether it was pronounced "NYE-jur" or "nee-ZHER?"
And the body of Sgt. La David Johnson was found a mile from where he was killed?  What? Despite help from Niger and France in the operation?
Trump couldn't even get his name straight when he called Sgt. Johnson's widow to offer his forced condolences and added that he knew what he'd signed up for.  Another way of saying, "He had it coming." >:-(
This all appalled Sgt. Johnson's widow's congresswoman, Representative Frederica Wilson (D-FL), who was accused by the White House of eavesdropping on a private conversation (it was on a speakerphone in a car and then White House Chief of Staff John Kelly had the temerity to accuse her of having a "history of politicizing what should be sacred moments," saying that she grandstanded at a dedication of an FBI field office in Miami and spoke at the ceremony about "how she was instrumental in getting the funding for that building."
She never said anything about how she helped secure funding for that building.  She couldn't have.  She hadn't entered the House yet when that funding was secured.
Never mind that.  Never mind Ms. Wilson's hat collection (that's for another post).  How about the fact that Trump's mismanagement of what happened in Niger is Benghazi on steroids?  This mission was so under the radar that members of Congress on both sides of the aisle didn't even know about it.  There are calls for an investigation.
Again, I don't get any of this . . .
