Some News

I had a rotten day today. But enough of that. Once again, to the news:
The Federal Communications Commission, as expected, relaxed regulations on media mergers, allowing media companies to own more television stations in larger markets and own newspapers as well as broadcast outlets. The good news is that the limit on media businessses owning eight radio stations per market remains, and many in Congress are upset about the latest policy changes and plan to find some way to reign in the FCC. Even Trent Lott thought that Uncle Charlie (as CB radio operators call the FCC) went too far. When Trent Lott criticizes a piece of deregulation, you know it's odious!
The authorities finally caught Eric Robert Rudolph, the accused bomber of abortion clinics in Atlanta and Birmingham, Alabama, a gay nightclub, and, during the 1996 Olympics, Centennial Olympic Park. (Yeah, I think he's guilty!) Once again, the FBI - Fools Bungling Investigations - got upstaged. A rookie cop in a small North Carolina town arrested Rudolph on an unrelated charge behind a mini-mall. Remember, not only did the FBI let Rudolph get away while investigating Richard Jewell (when it was obvious that he didn't do it!), they never caught Ted Kaszcynski, the Unabomber; he was turned in by his brother David!
And these are the guys investigating al-Qaeda links? Oh dear . . ..
