Christmas 2002

Merry Christmas, merry merry Christmas, happy Boxing Day, happy St. Stephen's Day, happy new year to you, two thousand and two - going on two thousand and. . .three! (And all that rot!)
Well, guess what Santa Claus brought me! I got a lot of shirts, which I needed, but I also got a . . . Bose wave radio with a CD player! Wow - I can't wait to hear it! It may take awhile for me to set it up, though.
I got my mother some expensive perfume and Patricia ("Everybody Loves Raymond") Heaton's book, but the best gift I got her - so I think - is a framed, restored picture of my grandfather giving my grandmother a flower. He was 22 and she was eighteen. She got all misty over it.
Aside from all that, regarding the old year, 2002 is going out with a whimper. As a freelance writer, I've been working all year on a profile article I started back in August 2001, and it's still not finished. Another writing project I initiated back in March of this year hasn't even been started, because the person I'm writing about hasn't been able to meet me to discuss it. My job is suddenly going less than well, and I'm still trying to finish reading "The Bostonians"!
But most of all - and here I'm downright serious - I'm still not completely over my grandmother's death.
Hopefully, 2003 will be better. (It should be, with a new Bose! :-) )
