Here We Go Again

I thought we were done with severe thunderstorms until next summer, but climate change - made possible by a grant from David Koch, who also donates to PBS - has dictated that we get summer-like storms in October.  Why not?  We already get snowstorms and hurricanes in this month!
The thunderstorms predicted for my area later tonight may be strong enough to cause electrical blackouts - or so the Weather Channel says.  The National Weather Service is less sure of such storms affecting Essex County, where I live. The folks there say there's a greater risk in Jersey City or Manhattan and points east, including the Jersey Shore.
Be that as it may, it looks like we could be in for another round of nasty weather late tonight . . . enough to kill the lights.  Swell, and my block has already had a blackout this month, an hour-long outage caused by an animal that tripped a transformer and made it blow.  With all the blackouts and bad weather we've had at this time of year, October is turning out to be our hard luck month.  Apologies to Johnny Mercer and Barry Manilow, but I'm beginning to love to see October go.
