Whose Default Is It?

The only good thing I see coming out of the default crisis in Washington is that Republicans will probably go down in flames for good over this . . . and that apart from New Jersey governor Chris Christie, the only reasonable Republican up for election this year (only in the current GOP would Christie would look reasonable), all of the Republicans running in this year's races are going to lose.  But it's rather dismaying to see so many compromises on raising the debt ceiling and not seeing any of them pass.  Never mind the government shutdown; this is worse.  As someone who has been underemployed for so long, I have to wonder if, having barely ridden out the previous recession, I can get through an economic downturn caused by a default that could make the thirties look like prosperous times.  People should know just how serious this is.

Oh yeah, CNN is devoting its vast news coverage resources to a documentary on Miley Cyrus tonight . . ..
