Mitt Romney is so much against government spending and a growing public sector that he actually suggested, in response to President Obama's insistence that "the private sector is fine" (he meant in comparison to the public sector), that we can do with fewer public employees. He suggested that in opposition to Obama's plan to help local governments hire more policemen, teachers, and firefighters.
Wait a minute - does that mean that Mitt Romney is comfortable with us having fewer policemen, teachers, and firefighters? Is his campaign theme going to be about how we need fewer public servants to protect us? Is he suggesting we don't have to worry about a greater number of criminals, dunces, and arsonists?
Don't expect the media to ask those questions. Like the Republicans, they're too busy jumping on Obama for his remark about the private sector.
