Panic In Detroit . . . From Terrorism

The country got an unpleasant Christmas surprise when a Delta Air Lines was almost blown up as it was landing at Detroit Metro Airport yesterday. The bomber, identified as Abdul Farouk Umar Abdulmutallab, a Nigerian, was subdued by passengers as he attempted to detonate it.
Delta Air Lines Flight 253 came from Amsterdam, where Abdulmutallaband boarded, so the security failure did not happen on U.S. soil. Nevertheless, it was an American air carrier that was involved. Interestingly, Umaru Abdulmutallab, a Nigerian banker, suspects that the suspect is is son, and he apparently warned U.S. authorities about him six months ago. Though the younger Abdulmutallab claimed to be with al-Qaeda, he likely acted alone.
The initial scare is over, but this story isn't. Stay tuned.
