Former Pink Floyd keyboardist Rick Wright went to the great gig in the sky, having succumbed to cancer at 65. Wright was more than just the group's keyboard player; he was an innovative musician who brought jazz influences into Pink Floyd's music with his Miles Davis-inspired fifth and seventh chords. The music of "Us and Them," in fact, was composed by Wright, and it certainly bore a resemblance to the cool jazz sounds of the late fifties.
We'll see him on the dark side of the moon. R.I.P.
