Barack Obama gave the speech he had to give on Thursday night. It was forceful, it was direct, it was detailed, and it might very well have won him the presidency. He answered every charge the Republicans have made against him and the Democrats in general.
The Democrats - having lost five out seven races (four if you don't count 2000, which I certainly don't!) - might just have nominated a candidate who as President can fundamentally change the country for the better. Even more so, Obama made himself very accessible to the public in his speaking style; he spoke to 38 million Americans watching on TV and made everyone who watched - including my aunt - feel like he was talking to them personally. Try that with your town hall meetings, John McCain!
Actually, McCain will try to do just that, and his own nomination speech is likely to serve the purpose of making the arena in St. Paul, Minnesota seem like a living room. With fewer delegates to address - the Republicans are still the smaller of the two major parties - it will probably feel like a living room already.
