It appears that Tom Batiuk will be fast-forwarding "Funky Winkerbean" ten years into the future, and once he gets some details out of the way to show how the characters cope with Lisa's death, the shift will be permanent - in about two weeks. And Lisa's passing will likely continue to play a major role in the evolution of the strip.
Maybe this strip will be funny again. But it won't be "Funky" again.
