The Latest News, Or Something Like It

Dubai Ports World put a temporary end to the controversy over its proposal to take over the workings of six major American seaports by backing out of the deal and agreeing to let a "United States entity" take over the ports for them. Now if they can only find an American entity. American business interests have mostly ignored running our ports for decades. And because American companies have had a history of running companies in other countries through a front to avoid political controversy, there's nothing to suggest that DB Ports World won't do the same thing. (By the way, Halliburton, once headed by Vice President Cheney, did just that in running an oil-related business venture in. . . Iran! >:-( )
Meanwhile, Tom DeLay beat out three challengers in a Republican primary to win the nomination to run for a twelfth term to represent his generally Republican district in the House. Bill Maher once suggested a reality show to determine America's dumbest state. I propose we have a reality show to find America's dumbest congressional district!
