Unmasterful Ceremonies

Eight days ago, I saw part of the opening ceremony (or open ceremonies - no wait, the opening ceremony. . . uh, never mind!) of the 2006 Winter Olympics and concluded that they (or it) had been, for the most part, tastefully done. Of course, I tuned into it late and turned off my set early. I have since seen more clips of it.
What the ##**!!?
They had grotesque balloons and vulgar displays that, as Jon Stewart noted, even Federico Fellini would have found over the top!
And to be honest, I thought those inline skaters with flaming helmets were ridiculous. :-O
Needless to say, I take back my earlier sentiment.
(Oh well, I'm sure Pavarotti was still good.)
