Courage, Resilience, and Stamina

French skier Carole Montillet-Carles and American skier Lindsey Kildow are to be commended for their performances in the women's downhill at the Torino Winter Olympics. Though neither won a medal - they both finished far behind the top three - the fact that they were able to compete at all after the horrendous skiing crashes they suffered earlier this week. They showed great courage, resilience, and stamina. My hat is off to them. It makes one wonder whether one would also try to recover from such a setback, and if not, why not.

Note: On September 29, 2007, Lindsey Kildow got married and is now Lindsey Vonn.
