The 2005 Atlantic hurricane season is over. And just as the National Hurricane Center was about to make the new record of 25 named storms official, a twenty-sixth storm, Epsilon, formed in the Atlantic. Although it was too far out to have an effect on land, it proved that this hurricane season was not about to go quietly.
But at least the new record of 26 storms, shattering the old record of 21 set in 1933, will stand for awhile, right? Think again, sucka. The NHC is already predicting that 2006 will be just as bad if not worse. And bear this in mind; while the northeastern United States was spared a direct hit this year, the laws of averages are against us. We're simply way overdue for a hurricane to hit us right between the eyes.
In the meantime, we have potential blizzards to look forward to this coming winter . . ..
