Everyone is talking all about the football deflation scandal involving the New England Patriots and their use of improperly inflated footballs in the American Football Conference championship game against the Indianapolis Colts. As a football non-fan, I find the underinflated footballs less interesting than the overinflated egos involved. Control-freak Pats coach Bill Belichick evades the issue and deflects to Tom Brady. Brady says he knew nothing about it, despite being the Patriots' star quarterback. Belichick must have known something, since nothing else slips his attention. Tom Brady appears to be completely inattentive. The pointedly outspoken Richard Sherman of the National Football Conference champions the Seattle Seahawks, whom the Pats will meet in the Super Bowl, sticks the knife in questions Brady's character in his absence, suggesting Brady's absence of character. His observations of NFL commissioner Roger Goodell's friendship with Patriots owner Robert Kraft as an explanation of why the Patriots won't be punished should play with the Pats' heads even more. The Gisele Bündchen curse also figures in here somewhere. Enough said?
