Barack Obama has done such a good job burnishing his Commander-In-Chief stature in the Middle East recently, poor old John McCain is at a loss for how to respond. He might have to name a vice presidential running mate to steal Obama's thunder!
Meanwhile, the cover of the New Yorker depicting Obama and his wife as anti-American militants went over like a lead balloon. Despite the magazine's attempt to parody the suspicions of those who view Obama as an unpatriotic Muslim (he's neither) and his wife as a Black Panther, all it did was make a venerable magazine look tasteless and gain Obama sympathy. So, the past couple of weeks have been very good for the candidate.
