Three stories that are (sort of) worth commenting on at this, the Ides of March:
Bear Stearns needed a bailout from the Federal Reserve and J.P. Morgan, indicating that the shell game on Wall Street has gotten out of control and the recession we are so obviously in is going to get worse before it gets even worse. Ask George Walker Bush. Or rather, don't. He still thinks the economy is in sound shape. Going into St. Patrick's Day, the economy seems less blessed by the luck of the Irish and more prone to Murphy's Law.
Barack Obama is trying to distance himself - whether successfully or not remains to be seen - from his pastor the Reverend Jeremiah Wright from incendiary comments made about white people in general and Hillary Clinton in particular with regards to wealth, power, and 9/11. As my mother pointed out, at least it's now clear that Obama is not a Muslim.
And, while all this is going on, the prostitute who supposedly brought down Eliot Spitzer (didn't Eliot Spitzer bring down Eliot Spitzer?) says she doesn't want to be seen as a "monster." This is the second time this month that the word "monster" has been publicly used in reference to a woman. :-O
