Well, I spent another day helping out on a shoot for that same movie. :-)
I was in the Bronx yesterday, helping director Judith Escalona finish up filiming of her Bronx tale of growing up Puerto Rican in the late seventies and early eighties. (My friend Clarisel wasn't there.) It went okay, despite a few glitches. For one thing, a lot of people arrived late, and Ms, Escalona was not to thrilled about it. I myself couldn't stay for the whole day, but she appreciated my presence. Her cameraman said I was very helpful to him, helping to move his wheeled camera chair while he shot a scene. I did commit one faux pas, though. I tied a red helium balloon needed for a scene to a railing during a shoot in a nearby Park, and Ms. Escalona told me to tie it so that the ribbon wouldn't wrinkle. (It was a spare balloon; they had a different one for the shoot.) I tried to tie the spare delicately but tightly, and it got loose and blew away. But Ms. Escalona was able to complete the scene with the one balloon she still had, so she's not mad at me anymore. :-)
It was a long, exhausting day, but it was worth it. I had another thrill when I got home. The Morris County Daily Record finally published my real estate and job fair articles, in its "Living 2007" insert in yesterday's Sunday edition. Sorry, no links available for these two. Not yet, anyway.
