January Political News

Bad news for Republicans - John Kerry won't be running for President next year!
Good news for Republicans - Hillary Clinton is setting herself up as the inevitable Democratic nominee to scare donations away from her primary and caucus rivals.
Meanwhile, I heard some of George W. Bush's comments from last night about making America less dependent on foreign oil, and it mostly involves blowing smoke out of the rear end. His plan to use more ethanol additives is mostly a giveaway to Midwestern farmers, who have more corn than they know what to do with and need some kind of cover for the odious subsidies they get for their biggest cash-cow crop. His proposals to gradually increase corporate average fuel economy levels hardly raises them enough to encourage smaller cars like the micro-cars available in Europe or discourage SUV's, and public transportation didn't factor a bit in his proposals. He also proposed all kinds of alternative energy sources that would emit carbons just as much as oil - liquefied coal, wood chips. . . I'm surprised he didn't add burning garbage to generate electricity. We certainly have an inexhaustible supply of that. :-O
Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton answered a burning question on an issue that's certain to dominate the 2008 campaign: what her favorite movie is. She answered The Wizard of Oz because as a girl she always wanted to go to Oz and join Dorothy on the Yellow Brick Road.
Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. He's our forty-second President. :-O
