Pundits have suggested that Nancy Pelosi could do herself and the country a favor by helping George W. Bush rescue his "Presidency" by cooperating with him on key domestic issues and helping him achieve something. Sorry, but the new Speaker of the House is under no obligation to pull Dub the Shrub's fat out of the fire. Bush, with a lapdog Congress falling in line behind him for six years, had plenty of opportunities to accomplish something but instead got us in an unnecessary war at the most inopportune time possible. Plus, he's denigrated Democrats at every turn. Why should Mrs. Pelosi help him now? Isn't he getting enough advice from his dad now?
Meanwhile, the House of Representatives is off and running, passing lobbying reform legislation designed to rake in the influence of money on Capitol Hill.
