Recently, likely 2008 presidential candidate John McCain suggested that more troops are needed in Iraq and declared that he would support increased troops, suggesting the expansion of the war in a McCain administration and the possibility of the next President playing Nixon to Bush's Johnson.
(You will note that I did not take the obvious cheap shot.)
Now, it looks like Bush will go ahead and increase the number of soldiers and Marines in Iraq anyway, even as he insists that we still have an excellent chance of winning the war. Oh yeah, he's also been looking into the possibility of increasing the size of the military. Someone forgot to tell him that the United States has an all-volunteer military and there are few if any options for increasing it.
