Donald Rumsfeld served his long-awaited last day as Secretary of Defense today. Bush and Cheney gave him a sendoff at the Pentagon full of pomp and pageantry and spoke without a scintilla of irony of how he transformed the military and how he would have a lasting impact on our armed services. That's just what incoming Defense Secretary Robert Gates should be afraid of!
