2006: Mixed Review

So how was 2006? Well, it's hard to say. . . .
I began the year employed in a full time job I liked. I ended it having been downsized twice - and having been transferred from an assignment I liked to one I didn't like before in the former occupation before getting the ax - and temping elsewhere for an indefinite time.
I began the year hoping to go to Italy with my mother in 2006. I end it not having done that, aware that such a trip might never happen.
On the other hand, I began 2006 with my writing career moribund and ended it with two pieces published (albeit online) and working on three or four new ones. Also, I began 2006 with no real social life. I end it belonging to a stamp club and a writers' club, and I also met a woman I'm interested in being more than just friends with. Who, you might ask? Never you mind! Suffice it to say, I have many steps to travel before I can get that far with her.
All in all, it was a mixed year. One step forward, one step back. But isn't that always the case? Happy new year. :-)
