Saddam: Guilty (And Other News)

So Saddam Hussein was found guilty of crimes against humanity and sentenced to hang. So not only did we bring American-style government too Iraq, we brought American-style justice. If the Brits had been leading this "coalition," we would not be talking about a death sentence for anyone.
Meanwhile, on the eve of the election, the Democrats are poised to take control of the House (albeit by default), but the Republicans are clearly going to hold the Senate; it's almost mathematically impossible for the Democrats to gain the six seats they need. One seat that will most likely stay Republican is the open seat in Tennessee being vacated by Senate Republican leader Bill Frist. Harold Ford, Jr. has been slipping in the polls, and he seems unlikely to turn things around against Robert Corker in that race. Ford can still win - it's possible - but the likelihood of such a victory is another story.
If Ford loses, it means he will have failed to bring whites and blacks together and help move the country forward. But then, he is a Ford . . . not a Lincoln.
