It looks like Joseph Lieberman may be headed for the dustbin of history. The Connecticut Republican, who's been elected to the Senate three times as a Democrat, faced real Democrat Ned Lamont in today's Senate primary, with Lamont having led in the polls. Everyone is predicting that Lieberman will be sent packing when the votes are all counted. After all, he supported going to war in Iraq, he still believes it was the right thing to do, and he still believes the U.S. should continue fighting local insurgents in the effort of maintaining peace in the Middle East. Yes, that last clause was more sarcasm.
I think Lieberman lost his seat the moment George W. Bush gave him that wet kiss on the cheek as a gesture of thanks for Joe's support for him prior to one of his State of the Union addresses. You know, for guy who dislikes gays and French people, Bush sure had a funny way of expressing his gratitude! :-D
Meanwhile, Georgia congreesswoman and anti-Semitic harpy Cynthia McKinney, who never met a white man she didn't accuse of racial/gender bias, has lost her primary to challenger Hank Johnson.
