Kyra Phillips Out Of Control

I got a big laugh when one of my least favorite television media personalities, the snooty Kyra Phillips of CNN, committed a major faux pas yesterday. During live coverage of George W. Bush's speech marking the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina to group of people in New Orleans, Phillips was in a ladies' room at the CNN Center in Atlanta with her microphone on. She was talking about men with an unidentified coworker, complaining about men in general but speaking fondly about her husband and encouraging her friend not to give up finding a husband of her own.
As if that weren't enough to embarrass Phillips, she went on talking about her brother, and how he needed to be protected from his wife, whom she described as a "control freak." Only then did someone inform Phillips that her microphone was on. Fellow CNN anchorwoman Daryn Kagan had to set things straight with an on-air announcement, during which she got flustered.
Kyra Phillips herself must have been flustered when she assumed her anchor duties for the afternoon. (She normally goes from one to four in the afternoon, Eastern time.) Not only did she prove herself to be sexist towards men even while questioning her brother's manhood, she badmouthed her sister-in-law on national television! :-D Guess she won't be going over to their house for Christmas!
I was actually in a lunchroom at work with a TV set playing CNN in the background when Phillips aired her dirty laundry on live television. But, because Bush was on, I tuned it out. Sometimes you can miss something really wonderful - like one of your least favorite TV newswomen making a complete fool of herself - when you're not paying attention! :-D
