Weekend Musings

I hope everyone had a nice weekend. I went to the New York International Auto Show and checked out the Volkswagens, everything else, and the Volkswagens again. :-D I had misgivings about the fact that the fifth-generation Golf being named the Rabbit once again for the North American market, but given the inability of U.S. and Canadian customers to understand the Golf name's meaning (short for Golf-Strom, German for the Gulf Stream, reflecting Volkswagen's penchant for naming cars after winds and currents), and given their association of the name with the game of golf and with golf carts (well, it is a hatchback!), maybe going back to the Rabbit name isn't such a bad idea.
Seems I forgot a significant birthday over the weekend - Queen Elizabeth II of Britain turned 80 on Friday. She's had an incredible reign, achieving many accomplishments such as recognizing Margaret Thatcher as the U.K.'s first female prime minister, opening Parliament every year, seconding M.B.E. awards, and, uh, other ceremonial duties.
Does Prince Charles really want his mum's job? :-P
