Immigration Stories

Two stories from the immigration issue I can't believe. . . .
A British music producer has created a Spanish-language version of "The Star-Spangled Banner" in an effort to make Hispanic immigrants in the United States who have not yet learned English be able to understand the meaning and the value of the American national anthem and feel like they're a part of this country. Fine. I propose that the United Kingdom also have a version of "God Save The Queen" in Urdu to accommodate non-English-speaking immigrants from Pakistan. Hmm, you don't suppose this is payback for writing our own song - "America (My Country 'Tis of Thee)" - to the British national anthem?
Also, immigrants are calling for a general strike on Monday - May 1 - to protest anti-immigrant sentiment in the United States and get a fair hearing from the government. Because, apparently, they figure that what works in France can work here. You know, in calling for such a strike to demonstrate their desire to get a fair shake at the American dream, and life, liberty and all that rot, maybe they shouldn't have picked a Communist holiday like May Day as their strike date! I'm sure they didn't realize the significance of May 1, and that choosing that date was a coincidence, but they've given Rush Limbaugh an excellent opportunity to boost his ratings.
As soon as he irons out the final details of his prescription fraud charges with his lawyer. :-O
