The overwhelming amount of news on Hurricane Katrina has allowed the media to overlook stories that, in normal times, might be given some attetnion. Like this one: Susan Wood, the FDA's Assistant Commissioner for Women's Health, resigned her post in protest and disgust yesterday when the Bush administration broke a promise to rule by today, September 1, on making the contraceptive "morning after" pill available without a prescription, despite all of the clinical evidence in favor of the pill being made available over the counter.
If you ask me, America's most dangerous pill is the one in the Oval Office. :-p
