London Gets The Games

So London gets the 2012 Summer Olympics. I didn't expect New York to get the Games - too many problems putting together a workable plan - but the fact that the Big Apple got as far as it did on its first try is encouraging for a future bid. Paris was the favorite, but the French seemed more arrogant than usual in their bid for the Thirtieth Summer Olympiad, and that might have cost them in the end. That and the fact that a lot of folks hate the French.
I hope New York - or Boston, or maybe Chicago or Philadelphia - hosts the Summer Olympics eventually. After all, St. Louis is the only American city to have hosted a summer Olympiad so far. (I don't really consider Los Angeles or Atlanta to be cities, you must understand - they're more like giant parking lots with skyscrapers! :-p)
