The saga of the undeveloped property in West Caldwell has come to an end. After much lobbying from my neighbors and myself to the town council, the mayor recommended that the property, with the brook running down its middle, be left alone to provide natural space for the neighborhood and storm runoff to prevent local flooding. The bid for the property was rejected, 3 to 2 (with one absence), by a town council that usually votes unanimously on everything - two council members actually thought the sale was a good idea!
But the property has been saved nonetheless. :-)
