Michael Phelps, the man to beat in the Olympic swimming trials, got beaten - twice! In one race, he lost to Aaron Peirsol, and in the next - the 200-meter butterfly, I believe - Ian Crocker beat him and did so with a new world record! Phelps could still conceivably win at least six gold medals, but these recent results may have revealed an Achilles heel.
I haven't heard any more about Marion Jones yet, but she can still make the team - just not in the 100-meter dash. :( Look for her in the long jump.
