Assorted News Items

Two other observations tonight:
Essayist Anne Taylor Fleming had an essay on The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer about Baby Boomer women growing old together through bonding with each other and remaining active and vibrant while trying to redefine aging based on the exploits of their youth. This was more self-absorbed Boomer mush about trying to stave off aging and keep going indefinitely. Self-importance, as any NewsHour viewer knows, is nothing new to Anne Taylor Fleming. Note to Anne - give it up. You're going to die like everyone else, and so will your sisters in arms.
Also . . . has anyone seen Jesse Ventura recently? The wrestler-turned-politician, who's thinking of running for President in 2008, has grown a long brown beard. He looks like a President now; unfortunately, that President is James A. Garfield! :-D
