Today at the store where I work, a coworker came in with a kitten she rescued from a friend's garbage can on her way to the store. It was a cute, gray kitten with a soft meow. Everyone who works there fell in love with it and petted or played with it.
The kitten didn't get into the garbage can by accident; someone abandoned it there. The poor thing even had paint on its tail. I wanted to adopt it right then and there - and I would have, if my mother would have allowed it. The girl who brought it in hopes she can keep it.
It ticks me off how this kitten was treated and abandoned before it was rescued. Whoever abandoned this defenseless animal deserves a punch in the nose!
