RIP Robert McCloskey

One of America's most beloved children's authors died a few days ago. McCloskey's best-known book, Make Way For Ducklings, about a family of ducks nesting in Boston's Public Garden, was published in 1941. It has entertained five generations of readers with its intelligence, wit, and warmth. Robert McCloskey was a wonderful children's writer, and he will be missed.
P.S. Lest you think that children's literature is the one remaining medium that can't be bothered with hacks, let me warn you that Madonna - yes, the slut - is preparing a children's book for publication in September. It will be the first of six. AUUGGGHHHH!!! Somebody bring back the Duchess of York NOW!
Better yet, make way for ducklings.
