New PBS Series

PBS has a new series that airs every three months (?) called "Flashpoint USA," in which Bryant Gumbel and the excellent (and underestimated) Gwen Ifill offer what aims to be probing, thought-provoking questions on the most important issues facing America today. I saw the first installment, and it's very earnest in delivering on its promise. Here's what I don't get, though: If this show aims to be probing and thought-provoking, why is Bryant Gumbel on it? :-D
