Sorry I've been away, but I haven't been busy. . .in other words . . . I lost my job.
It's a long story, and I'm sure you don't want to hear it (by the way, I don't want to tell it), but the people where I worked had been wanting to get rid of me for one reason or another, picking on every little thing I did, and they finally found some excuse to fire me.
So now I can spend more time on my writing career, right? Wrong, actually. My writing "career" hasn't paid me one cent since I started bring a freelancer (the few articles I've had published were in magazines that don't pay for unsolicited submissions), whatever profile articles I'm working on now have to be postponed until early July because that's exactly when everyone I'm working with now will suddenly become available, and I have to spend time practicing rapid-fire number keying for a job that might open up where my mother works. I'm not very happy about the idea that the only job I can get anywhere is out of nepotism, but right now there's nothing else out there.
Oh yeah, my mother worked for the same company I did, but she got fired on a similar technicality with six unused paid days off left - and she got fired in September 2001. September 18, 2001, to be exact, a week after 9/11! :-(
I don't know, I just don't know . . .. I'm sure there are plenty of jobs I can do . . .. I just have to figure out which ones they are.
