I finally got to do something I've never done before - I've met someone in person whom I hooked up with on the Web!
Leigh Davis is a peace activist in New Jersey and a vocal opponent of the Dubyanista junta ensconced in Washington. She coordinates a leftist activist group that meets every Thursday evening, and today I finally got the opportunity to attend. Ms. Davis is certainly a nice, engaging woman, which is no surprise, as most leftist women are! (The exceptions would include entertainers like Barbra Streisand, but not Susan Sarandon - she's cool!)
Anyway, it was a very productive meeting. We discussed strategies on how to register more voters and publicize the truth about the "liberation" of Iraq and its aftermath. Leigh has suggested that I could write up some presentations based on our online and in-person discussions (she's read my weblog!), and I have no trouble committing to that task at all. This should be a great experience.
To any of you Sean Hannity fans who inadvertently logged on to my weblog looking for online pictures of hotties in skimpy swimsuits (you misogynistic bastards!) and think I'll be a laughingstock by lampooning a popular President and an popular military policy, dig this - Senator Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) is putting a lot of pressure on Senate Republicans to come clean on what kind of evidence justified the war, and while he may be in the minority party, Rockefeller has a lot of clout and credibility in Washington. And then there was the military operation outside Baghdad today to attack what the military says is a training camp for terrorists that has led to the wounding of some of our soldiers and the needless deaths of Iraqi civilians. On top of the needless deaths of American soldiers and more Iraqi civilians. What's the word for what's happening in Iraq right now? Oh yeah - "quagmire."
