I'm hoping to resume record reviews, on a limited basis, some time before the year is out. I hoped I could start now, but there's simply too much stuff going on for me to comment on.
In the meantime, I have a different problem with regard to home audio. I got a cassette player as a gift a couple of years ago, and it just broke. It plays tapes at too slow a speed (I play a tape of an Elton John record from the '70s and the vocal sounds like the huskier-sounding '80s Elton!). Now I have to look into the warranty I got with it to see if I can replace it. Because I know that I have a slim chance of getting a better cassette player and it's too cheap to have it repaired, I've reverted to replacing my albums on cassette with compact discs. Except that most of the record stores I used to shop at are gone, the remaining few are Barnes & Noble record departments that have few titles on sale, and I can't turn to online orders for reasons to random and complicated to explain. I've had to go to YouTube and listen to albums that I have on cassette online.
I still have LPs on vinyl that I taped. I guess I can listen to the vinyl records . . . if we only had working speakers to connect to our turntable.
I've never been good with keeping up with planned obsolescence. After all, most of the records I review are classic-rock LPs, and rock itself is obsolete. 😡
