When I saw on TV the supermarket at which the latest mass shooting in Colorado, specifically in Boulder, took place I thought I was looking at a warehouse. Like most supermarkets in America, it certainly looks like one.
And so does the movie theater in Aurora where a mass shooting took place in 2012. And the most telling thing about Columbine High School in Littleton (below), where the first major mass shooting in America occurred in 1999, was that it too looked like a warehouse - a place to store children.
The buildings in or just outside which these shootings took place - like so many other buildings where shootings in America have taken place - were as dehumanizing and uncivilized as the events that infamously took place there. Maybe we in turn have become a dehumanized and uncivilized people.
Winston Churchill said it best.
