Cortex in a Vortex

The polar vortex that hit the country earlier this week  was one of the worst examples of extreme winter weather I've seen in five years.  Out in the Midwest, low temperatures have been between 20 and 40 degrees below zero, with wind chills of 60 below.  In the New York area, lows have been just above zero and high temperatures have between 15 and 20 above.  We got the least of the worst cold, but it's still been brutal.  Temperatures today, February 2 - Groundhog Day - are finally getting above freezing, then it will be in the fifties next week!
Donald Trump, of course, says that the bitter old disproves the idea of climate change, except that the disruptions in the climate caused by man are responsible for bringing the polar vortex down from the Arctic in the first place.  Extreme cold in the winter has become as common as extreme heat in the summer, thanks to mean temperature increases that release more heat in the atmosphere and wreck havoc with the jet stream that's supposed to moderate our weather.
I think I explained that right.  Point being, Trump's understanding of how weather and climate work is a misunderstanding.  His ignorance of basic science is his second most embarrassing quality. His ignorance of everything else is first.
Unless the Democrats get real on the issues and put political correctness and identity politics aside, we're going to get four more years of him.
