AT&T, one of the most politically active communications companies in America, is interested in buying Time Warner.
Time Warner, itself a big media conglomerate, owns Home Box Office, the CW television network, CNN, TBS, the Turner cable channels, and the Warner Bros. film and TV studio (but not Time Warner Cable, which was spun off from the main Time Warner company years ago). It's one of the biggest contributors to (and scale-tippers for) Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign.
AT&T wants to buy Time Warner for $86 billion.
Be afraid. Be very afraid. :-O
