After being accused of sexually assaulting a double-digit number of women, Bill Cosby is in deep trouble, as the accusations appear to have caught up with him.
The 78-year-old comedian appeared in court in the Elkins Park section of Cheltenham Township, Pennsylvania, just outside Philadelphia. He faces criminal charges of assault from Andrea Constand, a former employee at Temple University in Philadelphia, where Cosby is an alumnus and had been a trustee. Constand says the assault took place in 2004, and the charge was legally pursued before the statute of limitations expired. If found guilty, Cosby could spend up to ten years in prison and face a fine of $25,000.
Although Cosby is innocent until proven guilty, the charges against him from several other women - all of which follow the same pattern - make it unlikely that he will be acquitted. Cosby entered no plea, which seems to suggest that he's as guilty as sin and he knows it just like we do. He recently filed suit against top model Beverly Johnson for her accusations against him regarding an assault incident from the 1980s, which several observers saw as a pathetic attempt by the Cos to salvage what's left of his reputation. (Gee, ya think?)
The judge wished Cosby good luck. He's going to need it.
