Deep In the Heart of Crazy

How completely insane are the majority of people in the not-so great and nuttzo-great state of Texas?  Let us examine the evidence:
  • The Defense Department is planning a military training exercise this summer that will be held in numerous Southwestern states, including Texas.  The training exercise, called "Jade Helm 15," has been interpreted in the Lone Star State as an attempt by the military to take over the Southwest and declare martial law.  Governor Greg Abbott has ordered the state Guard ("Someone got excited and they called the state militia")  to monitor the operation, saying, "During the training operation, it is important that Texans know their safety, constitutional rights, private property right and civil liberties will not be infringed."
  • After the police/biker shootout in Waco, which has raised the stakes for more violence between motorcycle gangs and law enforcement, the state legislature has elected to push to . . . make it easier to purchase firearms.
  • Also, Governor Abbott signed into law a ban on individual communities restricting hydraulic fracturing for oil and gas.  Abbott explained that the law protects property rights and sets a uniform standard for the state, but what it really does is give fossil-fuel interests license to drill . . . and tells environmentalists to go to hell.

And Wendy Davis (remember her?) actually thought she could get elected governor of this state?  She may be the craziest Texan of all.
