Under The Dome

The latest round of fighting between Israel and the Palestinians in Gaza demonstrate just how hopeless everything is for the Palestinians.  Israel may have a right to defend itself, but its actions against the Hamas fighters in the Gaza Strip are so disproportionate, it's like swatting a fly with a sledgehammer.  A large number of Palestinians have died, and Israel has mostly emerged unscathed, thanks to their sophisticated "Iron Dome" missile defense system that has prevented Hamas rockets from hitting Israeli targets.  But it hasn't been a fair fight.  The Palestinians have suffered enough in the last six decades; they need a nation of their own.  I don't know what the final borders would be, but there has to be a dividing line that no one's come up with yet that would make a two-state solution viable.  If it means having a non-contiguous Palestinian state incorporating Gaza and the West bank, so be it.  But that would be better then what the Palestinians have now, which is nothing.
The Israelis can live under their iron dome all they want.  But with the growing unrest among the Palestinian people, it can only provide so much security.
