The Empire Strikes Out

The Russian men's hockey team lost on home ice to Finland, 3-1, in the Winter Olympics tournament.  Somehow, all of the medals Russia has won at Sochi are irrelevant.
I guess this is Finland's revenge for the Winter War? Because this loss certainly has the explosive power of a Molotov cocktail.   Now the Russians won't have a hockey medal this time.
In women's bobsledding, the American team of Elana Meyers and Lauryn Williams took the silver medal, losing the gold by only a fraction of a second to Canadians Heather Moyse and Kaillie Humphries.  Another bobsledding team from the U.S. - Jamie Greubel and Aja Evans - took the bronze, making this the first team two American teams have won medals in women's bobsledding in a single winter Olympiad.  Lauryn Williams, a medal winner from the Summer Games, is the first American woman to win medals in both winter and summer Olympic events.
Lolo Jones and her teammate, Jane Doe - whose name has been changed to protect the innocent - stayed in eleventh place.  Who cares?
