The Snowstorm That Almost Wasn't

Three days ago this time (7:11 PM), a dusting of snow - an inch or two at best - was expected where I live.  Suddenly, we got a winter storm just like the snowstorm that hit earlier in the month.  Six to twelve inches of snow.  And while another severe cold snap was expected to come in after this snowstorm, we were told it wouldn't be as severe as the previous one.  Oops - it's going to be worse.  But at least, we were told it wouldn't be so windy.  News flash: Blowing and drifting snow is expected once the storm passes.  Now, what could cause that?
Who told us all this? Sorry, I must remain in the passive voice to keep from getting aggressive against the guilty parties.
The only mitigating factor is that it will be sunny tomorrow.  Of course, if you're not wearing sunglasses, sun glare on the snow - which is going to stick around for as long as the cold snap lasts, or about ten days - could really hurt your eyes!
Did I happen to mention the possibility of more snow in my area next week?
Not in a good mood right now . . ..
