The first winter storm of 2014, which the Weather Channel has insisted on naming Hercules, is going to indeed produce some herculean weather, with lots of snow, lots of wind, and lots of cold. Actually , the snow will be a manageable accumulation where I live - eight inches on average - and the wind will be a normal (for a winter storm) 20 to 30 miles an hour. But with all that blowing and drifting, we could see snow over a foot deep in some areas, and it will only reach seventeen degrees for a high tomorrow (Friday, January 3). And after a brief warm-up over the weekend - with rain - the New York area will be back to single digits Monday night, with sub-freezing highs Tuesday and Wednesday. But at least it will be sunny. :-p
Climate change? Seems like it's changing all the time!
